Why!!!

Yesterday I was watching a video of my cousin’s Annual Performance (or something similar) that was at her school in India.  The kids were dressed in ball gowns and tuxes.  They were dancing to a song from Titanic.  Although the performance was endearing, it made me wonder why they didn’t use a more traditional song (by traditional I mean a Indian song).  Even though India has a beautiful culture and history, people are ashamed of it and believe that popular American culture is better. This is also partially America’s fault for having little regard of other cultures however Indians should not abandon their history to become more admired by Americans. Oh well. Someday they’ll realize that they lost something precious.

Dealing with pack law

So this weekend I watched Alpha and Omega (is a movie supposed to be underlined?) and later I noticed a very clear message about a woman’s place conveyed through the two main couples. Kate who is an alpha has a very confident and proud attitude.  Humphrey who is an omega, is also quite confident and outspoken.  The alpha from another pack, Garth, also shares these traits.  However, Lily, an omega, is very shy, quiet, and insecure. So, this shows that men can act any way they want without regard for their place in society yet females must be aware of their place and cannot show any “macho” traits unless their place is a secured and at the very top.  This also shows how easy it is for a woman to be destabilized from their positions and how we are essentially ruled by males.  Although Lily is the pack leaders’ daughter, she cannot be outspoken or different and if she is then she is most likely to be frowned upon and removed from the pack for violating pack law, which was most likely created by males. So, basically we have to follow the rules made by men and any of our achievements rely solely upon them.

New Category!

Hi guys, I wanted to tell you that I’m going to be starting a new category on the blog about natural beauty. Here are some things I hope we get to discuss: 1) the short- and long-term effect of store bought cosmetics on your skin, 2)DIY beauty treatments that you can make at home ( that means no ingredients that have a gazillion letter in their names or something you can’t find at Trader Joe’s), 3)some fashion tips, and 4) hairstyles. We might also talk about society’s portrayal of women.

I really sorry that I haven’t posted much but I have AP tests coming up so I probably won’t post much more.  However, I will try to start using my Study hall time wisely so that means I can write up my posts during that time.

If you have any suggestions for this category or the blog in general, please comment below.

P.S. If any of you noticed, yes, I did copy the ‘write a list in a sentence’ from John Green.

P.P.S. Do you guys want to start a Hand Lettering category too?

Bye!

Hi!

Don’t forget to be your awesome self today!

“Sunset Sky” Melted Crayon Art

20150111_113302This is my most recent melted crayon project.  To make the background I simply made shapes with a crayon while holding a hairdryer above it to make it melt.  After it dried I carved my text into the crayon surface.  I found it easiest to use a pen without ink because of the small tip. Also if you are doubtful of your skills (like me) you can print out a paper with the text, design, etc. and carve through the paper.  Just make sure that your paper doesn’t shift while you are working otherwise your stuff will end up crooked.  After I finish my carving this piece of art (I called it a piece of junk at that time)  was thrown to the side;  cast to the side in favor of jewelry making.  After about two months I took it out again, determined to finish it.  I tried painting the letters black, however the words then were not visible against the darker colors.  So, I painted it white and I am really happy with the way it turned out.

These are one of the several earrings I have made and I have to say that they one of my favorites.  They are very simple to make and require only jump rings and seed beads to make.  Here are a few more pictures. P.S. These rocks are from Sedona and Cottonwood where Happy Creator and I visited this December.20141230_11370020141230_11380920141230_114000
